2020 Race Adjustments
At this time, the Worlds End Ultra held in Sullivan County is in 'green phase' per Governor Wolf’s orders. The social restrictions in 'green phase' means the race must adhere to large gatherings below 250 people and wearing a mask while entering businesses. We will also need to adhere to CDC guidelines and recommendations at the event. As it stands, the race would not be in compliance to Governor Wolf's orders nor meet the CDC mitigation guidelines. Even though our permit has been submitted and is on a 5 year renewal, DCNR has the right to veto and revoke permits at any time. The Worlds End State Park and Loyalsock State Forest are on our side to have this event, but DCNR in Harrisburg has final say. We are currently submitting our covid-19 mitigation plan to DCNR for approval.
🗣 Postponement of the 50k event
We have made the decision to officially postpone the 2020 Worlds End Ultramarathon 50k until 2021. We have made this decision after careful consideration on the best way to successfully and safely hold the event in compliance with the current state health orders and CDC guidelines along with getting the proper approval from DCNR for our permits. While we understand this will not be the most popular decision for those in the 50k event, this was determined to be the best course of action for the event as a whole.
In accordance with this decision, we will continue with the exact procedure as we had in place for the first postponement. Every participant will automatically be enrolled into the the 2021 race date which is always the weekend after Memorial Day weekend. We will also be offering full refunds for those who cannot attend the 2021 date.
Some important details to consider:
- Full refunds will continue to the of end July 4th. You must make your decision no later than July 4th.
- After July 4th, the refund policy will be adjusted back to our normal refund policy.
- Refunds will be handled through RunSignUp. Instructions on how to do a refund through RunSignUp can be found on their webpage - RunSignUp refunds instructions.
🗣 Changes specific to the 100k event
As you can imagine, we will be making other adjustments to certain aspects of our race weekend to be in compliance with these orders and guidelines. These changes will try to keep intact the aspects that make this race so special for so many people. Once we get approval and get closer to the race weekend, we will provide a slide presentation of these changes. Remember, full refunds and deferrals into next year’s race will end July 4th. After July 4th, the refund policy will be adjusted back to our normal refund policy.
We thank you for your patience and kindness during this difficult period. We will continue to update and share details as things progress. We hope you all remain safe and healthy and we look forward to gathering with you at the Worlds End.
